Celebrate Spring, Goodwill and Japanese Culture at Annual Cherry Blossom Festival
Take in the sights, sounds and smells of spring, March 29-April 5.

The Cherry Blossom Festival returns to Red Wing Park March 29-April 5 as more than 150 Yoshino cherry trees come to life for a fleeting moment of nature’s beauty. Together with our sister city Miyazaki, Japan, which gifted the trees, Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation presents an array of programs and activities to promote the rich culture and beauty of Japanese music and art.
Festival Fun
Pack your blankets and chairs to enjoy an immersive family festival with cultural performances, musical performances, martial arts demonstrations, Japanese Garden tours, children’s activities and more.
New this year is the festival’s first vendor market! On Sunday, March 30, attendees can peruse a variety of vendors, from educational to merchandise on sale, including artwork, snacks and crafts that reflect Asian culture and cherry blossom themes.
Food trucks will be onsite March 29, 30 and April 5, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Parking
Parking will be available in the park’s grass lot during the event. Reserved handicap-accessible parking is available at the park office and dog park lot. The Japanese Garden parking lot will be closed. Please follow signs, designated parking directors and traffic flow during your visit.

Red Wing Park Updates
A roadway improvement project is currently underway at Red Wing Park, which includes a widened entryway to the park and repaved parking lots and park lanes throughout the park. The park is reopening temporarily for everyone to enjoy the annual festival and cherry blossoms.
A temporary gravel road has been installed to provide access into the park. Following the festival, public access to the park will close again mid-April to finish construction and will remain closed until the project is complete. Completion of this project is targeted for end of June, weather permitting.
