The Virginia Beach Mayor's Commission on Aging assists the mayor in planning actions and programs to meet the needs and concerns of seniors in Virginia Beach.
The 2024 Senior Showcase is scheduled for May 29 at the Princess Anne Recreation Center from 9 a.m. to noon.

Members must be Virginia Beach residents and they are appointed by the mayor to serve for a three-year term without compensation. Apply today!
Meetings are open to the public and are typically held from 2-4 p.m. on the last Wednesday of each month in City Hall - Building 1, Room 1009, 2401 Courthouse Drive unless otherwise specified. No meetings are held in May, July, and December. Confirm meeting dates and locations by email at VBMCOA@vbgov.com, or by calling (757) 385-2688.

Each year, the commission presents awards for exceptional accomplishments in service to senior citizens. Nominations are submitted for individuals or organizations who have made significant contributions to promote change or provide new services for senior citizens of Virginia Beach within the past year benefitting a large segment of the senior community.
Nomination forms are available through the Office of the Mayor or online when the application period is open. The awards are presented at the annual Senior Showcase.
The Dr. Lanny Hampel Award for Exemplary Service to Senior Citizens
To officially recognize individuals whose service to seniors has been exceptional. The service or initiative must have extended significantly beyond the requirements of employment duties and responsibilities.
Meyera E. Oberndorf Award for Exemplary Service to Senior Citizen
To officially recognize organizations, businesses, community groups, or government entities whose service to seniors has been exceptional. The service or initiative must have extended significantly beyond the requirements of employment duties and responsibilities.
