Virginia Beach Celebrates Military Appreciation Month

Military families in our community can take advantage of special offers from Parks & Rec and VBPL this month.

Military Flags

In honor of the many military families in our community, Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation is offering FREE access to rec centers and Virginia Beach Public Library (VBPL) is hosting a special military family story hour. This is just a small way the City can say thank you to those who have served and continue to serve.

Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation is extending FREE access to all seven recreation centers every Friday in May to active duty, retirees, veterans and dependents. Military ID or proof of service is required and dependents under 18 must be accompanied by the service member. For more information, contact fun@vbgov.com or (757) 385-1100.

On Wednesday, May 24, from 5-6 p.m., the Princess Anne Library will offer a special storytime for military families featuring songs, rhymes and stories for preschool children ages 3-5. For registration and additional details, visit the Virginia Beach Public Library Programs and Classes page.

The Virginia Aquarium also honors service members all year long with $2 off of adult and child admission rates for military families with valid ID. Similarly, The Adventure Park offers a 15% military discount all season as well.
