Update: Virginia Beach Police Department Investigating Garfield Ave Homicide
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA, Wednesday, July 5, 2023 – One suspect has been arrested in relation to the incident that occurred on June 15, 2023 (see below for initial report).
With the assistance from the U.S. Marshals, Jamieson Francis (M/22) of Fayetteville, NC was apprehended on June 21, 2023, in Florida on outstanding warrants for Second Degree Murder and Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony. Francis is currently awaiting to be extradited back from Florida.

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA, Friday, June 16, 2023 – On June 15, 2023 at approximately 11:24 P.M., officers from the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) responded to a report of gunshots in the 700 block of Garfield Ave.
Upon arrival, officers found Lonnie Harvey Jr. (M/20) of Virginia Beach, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Harvey was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
