The Virginia Aquarium Is Giving Jilted Lovers a Chance to Bite Back this Valentine’s Day

Is your ex a worm? Here’s a cathartic opportunity to name a real worm after the person who broke your heart and feed it to a hungry animal at the Aquarium.

Love Bites Valentines Day

Love Bites, the Virginia Aquarium’s wildly popular anti-Valentine's ex-perience is back for a second year!

Some people celebrate Valentine’s Day with roses, candy, and romantic, candle-light dinners. But that’s not for everyone. If you’ve been recently scorned, consider lifting your jilted soul by (symbolically) feeding a roach, a worm, a cold fish or a rat named after your ex to one of the Virginia Aquarium’s animals.

Purchase the item that suits them, provide your ex’s name when you check out, and one of the Aquarium’s residents will enjoy it in your honor. You can also purchase a personalized video to watch your “ex” disappear into the mouth of a happy animal!

You can also feel good about the fact that your purchase will help support the Aquarium’s operations and animal care, as well as their mission to conserve the marine environment through education, research, and sustainable practices.

Please Note:

  • Only first names will be accepted.
  • Sale of feeders ends Feb. 14.
  • Sale of feeders with personalized video is limited quantity and ends Feb. 8.
  • You will be able to select your food item, but the animal it will be fed to will be determined by Animal Care. Those who purchase a personalized video will receive a video displaying their ex's first name.
  • Herring and rat feeders are not live.
