Virginia Beach Public Utilities to Hold Dedication Ceremony for the Thomas M. Leahy, III Municipal Pump Station Nov. 18

​The City of Virginia Beach will honor Thomas M. Leahy, III in a water pump station dedication ceremony on Friday, Nov. 18, at 3 p.m. As an engineer for the Department of Public Utilities, Leahy played a pivotal role in securing a plentiful and reliable water source for Virginia Beach through the Lake Gaston water supply project. He later served as director of Public Utilities, deputy city manager, and interim city manager before retiring in 2020.

The ceremony honoring Leahy will be held in the City Council Chamber, located on the second floor of City Hall, 2401 Courthouse Drive. Speakers at the ceremony will include Public Utilities Director Robert S. Montague, Jr., Mayor Robert M. "Bobby" Dyer, former City Manager James K. Spore, former Public Utilities Director Clarence O. Warnstaff, City Manager Patrick A. Duhaney, and Thomas M. Leahy, III himself.

The Thomas M. Leahy, III Municipal Pump Station is located next to Lake Gaston in Brunswick County and provides up to 60 million gallons of water per day to our region.
