Virginia Beach Police Investigate Two Fatal Crashes Over the Weekend

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – On Aug. 27, 2022, approximately 11:50 p.m. officers from the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) and the VBPD Special Operations Bureau, Traffic Safety Unit, responded to the report of a two-vehicle crash in the 5500 block of Indian River Road.

The preliminary investigation revealed a Toyota sedan was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Indian River Road and Ferry Point Road. A driver of a Mercedes sedan failed to stop for the red light and rear ended the Toyota. Witnesses to the crash rendered aid to the driver of the Toyota, but she was pronounced deceased at the scene by EMS personnel.

The driver of the Mercedes was identified as John Glover (M/34) of Virginia Beach, was arrested and charged with DUI and Involuntary Manslaughter.

On August 28, 2022, approximately 10:38 PM, officers from the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) and the VBPD Special Operations Bureau, Traffic Safety Unit, responded to the report of a single vehicle crash in the 1200 block of N. Muddy Creek Road.

The investigation revealed that a Ford F-150 pickup truck was traveling south on N. Muddy Creek Road when it left the roadway, striking a tree. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene by EMS personnel.
