VBPD Makes Quick Arrest in Shooting Homicide on 900 Block of Coachman Ct.
On June 18, 2023 at 12:32 A.M. the Virginia Beach Police Department received several Shotspotter alerts in the vicinity of Coachman Court and Broad Meadows Blvd. This was followed by a number of 9-1-1 calls to the Emergency Communications and Citizen Service (ECCS).
Upon arrival, officers located Daron Kenard Parker (M/29) of Suffolk, laying in the grass in the 900 block of Coachman Court. Parker was deceased, having succumbed to a gunshot wound.
In route to the scene, a VBPD officer noted a vehicle leaving the area at a high rate of speed. A canvas of the area located the vehicle, and two suspects were detained. Juan Perry (M/26) and Jamal Burnell Jr. (M/20), both of Chesapeake, Virginia, were arrested and charged with Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Murder. This is an ongoing investigation and additional charges may be forthcoming.
