VBPD Arrests Armed Robbers on Interstate

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA, April 6, 2023 – On April 4, 2023, at 5:12 P.M., Virginia Beach Emergency Communication and Citizen's Services (ECCS) received a call for a man robbed at gunpoint by three people in the 100 block of Price Street.

Upon arrival, a Virginia Beach officer saw the suspects getting into a vehicle and leaving the area. The officer followed the vehicle, which got onto I-264 East. A felony stop was conducted on the vehicle in Norfolk on I-264 East near the Brambleton Avenue exit.

Four occupants were detained, and one suspect, Tae'Jon Scott (M/20) of Virginia Beach, fled on foot from the traffic stop. Scott went over a fence and accidently discharged his own firearm. Scott was subsequently apprehended with no further incident and transported to the hospital for minor injuries sustained from fleeing. Scott was arrested and charged with Robbery and Use of Firearm in Commission of a Felony.

Malachi Hardy (M/18) of Virginia Beach, was arrested and charged with Robbery and Use of Firearm in Commission of a Felony.

Tamarriya Cross (F/18) of Virginia Beach, was charged with Robbery.

Three handguns were recovered from the traffic stop scene.
