VBPD Apprehend Two Suspects in Lineberry Park Shooting Incident
On Nov. 9, 2023, at approximately 6:15 p.m., the Virginia Beach Emergency Communications and Citizens Services received reports of shots heard at Lineberry Park on Kings Point Road. Responding Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) officers discovered evidence of shots fired at the location, though no victims or suspects were present at the scene. Subsequently, a local hospital reported a walk-in gunshot wound, and the victim, a 41-year-old male, was determined to be connected to the incident. The victim sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
Investigations revealed that the shooting transpired during a narcotics transaction involving marijuana. The VBPD Robbery Detectives identified two suspects in connection with the incident: Shyria Parham (M/23) of Newport News and Shaquille Pugh (M/26) of Virginia Beach. Warrants were obtained for both suspects.
The charges filed against Parham and Pugh include Aggravated Malicious Wounding, Shooting in Commission of a Felony, Attempted Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, and two counts of Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony. Parham faces an additional charge of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
Both suspects were apprehended on Nov. 28, 2023, for their outstanding warrants by the VBPD Warrant Fugitive Unit and SWAT Team with help from the Norfolk Police Department.
