Virginia Beach Sports Center Selected to Host 2028 NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships
Chosen from over 1,200 bids, the VBSC will showcase its world-class facilities and commitment to sports excellence
The Virginia Beach Sports Center (VBSC) has been selected by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) to host the 2028 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships. VBSC will co-host the major event with Virginia Wesleyan University.
VBSC has previously been awarded NCAA Championships for 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026. Dates for 2028 have yet to be confirmed.
"We are thrilled to be part of this event and thank the cohost, Virginia Wesleyan University, for their partnership," said Nancy Helman, director of Virginia Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau. "It’s truly an honor for us to once again host such a prestigious and monumental occasion and be able to offer a world-class experience to both student-athletes and spectators."
The NCAA recently announced it had selected over 240 host sites for preliminary and final rounds of predetermined championships across Divisions I, II and III, primarily for the 2026-27 and 2027-28 seasons. The organization put most of its championships up for bid simultaneously, following a comprehensive site selection process, the fourth in NCAA's history.
With more than 1,200 bids submitted from member schools, conferences, cities and sports commissions across 47 states and Washington, D.C., Virginia Beach Sports Center stands proud to be among the selected host sites.
The selection of host sites was based on several vital criteria, including the capability to create an extraordinary experience for student-athletes, easy travel access to the location, ample lodging facilities, and adherence to NCAA principles, including offering an environment that is safe and respects the dignity of all attendees. VBSC is fully committed to upholding these values while hosting the NCAA Championships.
Details regarding the championship events to be held at Virginia Beach Sports Center will be released closer to the event.
