VBPD Announces Enhanced Traffic Enforcement Initiative

Beginning this Saturday, October 21, 2023, and continuing over the next few weeks, the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) will be conducting increased traffic enforcement throughout the City of Virginia Beach. This effort will include officers from our Special Operations Bureau, augmented by precinct personnel to saturate specific areas of concern.

This initiative will be conducted in each of our four precincts, where officers will focus their efforts in areas where historical data has identified high crash locations, including serious injury and fatal accidents, as well as those areas identified by community complaints.

With an increased focus on traffic enforcement, the VBPD is working to improve the safety of our roadways for all motorists and pedestrians. We believe by targeting these areas and enforcing traffic laws in a concentrated effort, we will see a reduction in the number of drivers engaging in dangerous behaviors while continuing to reduce the number of crashes in Virginia Beach.

The VBPD urges all motorists to be mindful of their driving habits and obey traffic laws. By working together, we can create a safer and more responsible driving culture. We all share the goal for everyone to arrive at their destinations safely.
