Update: Virginia Beach Landfill and Resource Recovery Center Closed
Due to an unexpected equipment issue, the Virginia Beach Landfill and Resource Recovery Center, located at 1989 Jake Sears Road, will be closed until further notice. The landfill was scheduled to close for planned maintenance on Oct. 15, however, the closure has been moved up to Wednesday, Oct. 12, to allow for the repair of equipment necessary to operate the landfill. The landfill will reopen once all necessary repairs and maintenance have been completed.
During this time, Virginia Beach residents will continue to have access to the SPSA Landstown Transfer Station. Located at 1825 Concert Drive the transfer station is open for a wide range of disposal needs. Please note, this location does not accept any tree trunks, stumps, electronics, recycling, or Household Hazardous Waste (HHW). Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon.
