Update: Arrest Made In Garfield Ave Homicide

​VIRGINIA BEACH, VA, Wednesday, July 5, 2023 – One suspect has been arrested in relation to the incident that occurred on June 15, 2023 (see below for initial report).

With assistance from the U.S. Marshals, Jamieson Francis (M/22) of Fayetteville, NC was apprehended on June 21, 2023, in Florida on outstanding warrants for Second Degree Murder and Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony. Francis is currently awaiting to be extradited back from Florida.

Virginia Beach Police Department Investigating Garfield Ave Homicide

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA, Friday, June 16, 2023 – On June 15, 2023, at approximately 11:24 P.M., officers from the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) responded to a report of gunshots in the 700 block of Garfield Ave.

Upon arrival, officers found Lonnie Harvey Jr. (M/20) of Virginia Beach, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Harvey was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
