Two Men Arrested After Entering 40+ Unlocked Vehicles

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – On February 23, 2022, at approximately 0248 hours, Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) officers responded to the 2100 block of Kimball Circle to investigate reports of several male suspects tampering with unoccupied motor vehicles. Officers located several suspects on Pier Point Place. After a brief foot pursuit, two of the suspects were taken into custody without incident.

During the initial canvass of the area, it was discovered vehicles have been entered in an area spanning Kimball Circle, Pier Point Place, Mile Course Walk and Staplesmill Lane. The total number of vehicles entered has surpassed 40. Additionally, a stolen firearm was recovered in the area where the suspects were initially seen by police.

The suspects were identified as Chyheem Vaughn, a 19-year-old male from Portsmouth, and Adrian Gayton, a 19-year-old male from Norfolk.

Adrian Gayton was charged with several counts of Tampering of a Motor Vehicle. Chyheem Vaughn was also charged with several counts of Tampering of a Motor Vehicle as well as Possession of Burglarious Tools.
