Temporary Road Closure of Cypress Avenue Begins March 18

Cypress Avenue between 19th Street and Virginia Beach Boulevard will close for final paving starting at 6 p.m. on Monday, March 18.

During this time, this section of Cypress Avenue will be closed to through traffic. Detours will be set to reroute traffic to adjacent streets until work is complete and will reopen immediately upon completion. Advanced warning signs are posted advising motorists of the detours and closures.

Weather permitting, the road is scheduled to reopen by the end of the day on Wednesday, March 20.

Please note: This closure affects the original detour in place for a utility project near the intersection of 19th Street and North Birdneck Road. Westbound traffic on 19th Street turning left onto Birdneck Road will instead be rerouted via Mediterranean Avenue and Virginia Beach Boulevard.
