Teamwork & Technology help VBPD Make Quick Arrest in Fox Creek Court Homicide
On Sept. 30, 2024, at approximately 9:40 a.m., officers from the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 600 block of Fox Creek Ct., with a subsequent 911 call for a victim suffering from gunshot wounds.
First responders rendered aid to Keshawn Woodhouse (M/20) of Virginia Beach, who succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
VBPD Homicide detectives determined that after the shooting, the suspect fled in a vehicle which was involved in a hit and run crash at the intersection of Lynbrook Landing and Baker Road. Utilizing Flock license plate reader cameras, the suspect’s vehicle was tracked to Portsmouth.
VBPD detectives were able to identify the suspect as Javon Pollard (M/19) of Portsmouth and secure warrants for is arrest. With the assistance of Portsmouth Police Department SWAT, Pollard was apprehended without incident in less than 13 hours after the offense.
Police Chief Paul Neudigate stated, “This quick arrest is once again a testament to the incredible teamwork and dedication of your Virginia Beach Police Department. My thanks go out to our Homicide, Warrant Fugitive, and Special Investigations detectives, along with the assistance of Portsmouth PD, who were able to bring some timely closure to the family of Mr. Woodhouse.”
Pollard is charged with Second Degree Murder, Unauthorized Use of a Firearm, Attempted Robbery, and Felony Hit and Run. Pollard was also served with unrelated warrants from Newport News and Portsmouth.
