Suspect Apprehended for April 29th Oceanfront Shooting

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA, May 18, 2023 – On April 29, 2023, Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) Officers patrolling on mountain bikes in the 2200 block of Atlantic Avenue heard a shot fired and discovered a single victim, who was subsequently transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No witnesses remained on-scene, however, after extensive work by VBPD Detectives and Forensics Squad personnel, the offender was identified. Timothy Lane, Jr (M/20) of Virginia Beach was arrested on May 17, 2023, by members of the VBPD Warrant Fugitive Squad. Mr. Lane is charged with the Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony and Aggravated Assault.
