Shooting Investigation - 700 Block Independence Blvd

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – On November 23rd, at 7:35 P.M., officers of the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) responded to a call for two persons shot in the 700 block of Independence Blvd. Upon arrival, VBPD located the two victims suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and both were subsequently transported to a local hospital for treatment.

On November 25, 2022, the suspect involved in this incident turned himself in to VBPD. Johnathan Neal, (M/33) of Virginia Beach, is charged with two counts of Malicious Wounding, two counts of Use of a Firearm, and a Concealed Firearm (second offense). He is currently in the Virginia Beach City Jail and being held on a no-bond status.
