Members of Virginia Task Force 2 (VA-TF2) Activated to Support Flooding Response in New Hampshire

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (September 14, 2023) — Fourteen members of Virginia Task Force 2 were activated at 1500 hours on Wednesday, Sept. 13, in response to Tropical Cyclone Lee in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The team departed at 1900 hours Wednesday evening after preparing the Incident Support Team (IST) cache for deployment. The team is expected to arrive in Portsmouth, New Hampshire at approximately 1600 hours this afternoon, Sept. 14, 2023. They will rendezvous with FEMA IST in New Hampshire and assist local agencies with requests for assistance as needed.

VATF-2 USAR is one of 28 FEMA Urban Search and Rescue Teams positioned across the country. The Virginia Beach Fire Department is the sponsoring agency for VATF-2. VATF-2 has conducted search and rescue operations in the aftermath of numerous disasters.
