Love For VB: Reminders of Remembrance for May 31, 2019

As May 31 approaches, the City of Virginia Beach invites the community to show your "Love For VB" in remembrance of the lives lost and forever changed in May 2019.

On Wednesday, May 31, 2023, we invite you to:

  • Wear blue, the color of remembrance
  • Partake in a Moment of Silence at 4:06 p.m., the time that the first 911 call was received. Individuals are asked to pause wherever they are at that time.
  • Attend the Year Four Remembrance Ceremony to gather to remember those we lost, lift up survivors and all those affected and still healing. The vigil will begin at 8 p.m. in front of City Hall, 2401 Courthouse Drive. Candles will be provided; however, seating will not be available.

In observance, the departments previously located in Building 2 will modify operations on Wednesday, May 31. The departments of Planning, Public Utilities, Public Works and Information Technology will close at 3 p.m. For departmental information, visit https://virginiabeach.gov/.
