Library’s “TeenTober” Programs Promise Free Fun for Teens

Virginia Beach teens will find more than 60 free programs and activities this month at Virginia Beach Public Library (VBPL) as part of “TeenTober.” The national observance shines a spotlight on valuable, year-round public library services for teens to help them develop new skills, pursue their passions, and connect with their communities and each other.

“Our TeenTober events help us remind teens that they are always welcome at the public library,” said James Giangregorio, teen services coordinator at VBPL. “We value teens as individuals and provide a variety of resources to support them as they pursue their interests and discover who they are.”

VBPL’s TeenTober programming, for teens in grades six to 12, includes gaming, anime, art, movies, escape rooms, and more. Availability varies by branch. The month’s festivities culminate with the TeenTober Carnival, an after-hours lock-in on Friday, Oct. 28, 7-9 p.m. at the Meyera E. Oberndorf Central Library. Teens can play games, brave the “Cart of Curiosities,” compete in a costume contest, sample snacks and have the chance to win door prizes, all while relaxing with friends and meeting new people.
