Human Services Partners With the Foodbank to Serve Up to 2,000 Households at December Drive-Thru Food Pantry
The Virginia Beach Department of Human Services has partnered with the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore to hold a drive-thru food distribution from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 13, at the Veterans United Home Loan Amphitheater, 3550 Cellar Door Way.
"As the economy fluctuates, many of our residents are challenged with trying to provide food for their families while also paying their bills," said Human Services Director Aileen L. Smith. "Serving the community in this way allows us to ease that burden and provide an opportunity for us to work towards eliminating hunger in our community."
The mobile pantry is funded by the Virginia Beach City Council through American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds and is open to all Virginia Beach residents on a first-come, first-served basis, or until the food runs out. Individuals will receive approximately 60 pounds of fresh and shelf-stable foods.
