Homicide Investigation Leads to Arrest

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – On May 16, 2022, at approximately 0049 hours, officers from the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) were dispatched to a reported gunshot wound in the 100 block of Sea Cove Court. The victim, identified as Javion Jarvis (M/18) of Virginia Beach, was located and transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Leionte Smith (M/21) of Virginia Beach, VA was arrested that night and charged with discharging a firearm in an occupied dwelling. He was subsequently released on bond.

On May 25, 2022, an additional warrant for involuntary manslaughter was obtained for Smith in relation to the death of Javion Jarvis. Smith was taken into custody without incident, at his residence.
