Fatal Crash – Lynnhaven Parkway

On July 9, 2022, at approximately 5:38 pm, officers from the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) Traffic Safety Unit responded to a multi-vehicle crash in the 2000 block of Lynnhaven Parkway. The preliminary investigation revealed there were two vehicles involved: a Honda Civic and Chevrolet Equinox. The Honda was attempting to make a left turn onto Lynnhaven Parkway when it struck the front driver’s side of the Chevrolet. The Chevrolet veered into the median and struck a tree head on. A third vehicle was struck by debris.

The driver of the Chevrolet was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash. A juvenile passenger in the Chevrolet was transported to Virginia Beach General Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Honda was not injured. The driver of the third vehicle was not injured.

The victim has been identified as Mary Foley (F/65) of Virginia Beach. Her family has been notified.

Qingyuan Liu (M/31) of Virginia Beach, was issued a summons for failure to yield the right of way when making a left turn
