Fatal Crash Involving a Motorcycle

​VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – February 12, 2022, at approximately 1132 hours, Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) officers and members of the Traffic Safety Unity responded to the report of a crash in the 3600 block of Charity Neck Road involving two vehicles, an SUV and a motorcycle. The investigation revealed the SUV and motorcycle collided head-on, causing serious injuries to the motorcycle rider. Rescue units responded but the rider was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The rider was identified as Dennis Whitby, a 41-year-old male from Virginia Beach. Mr. Whitby’s next of kin has been notified.

The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash contacted authorities, stayed on scene and was cooperative with first responders.

This case is being investigated by the VBPD Traffic Safety Unit and is ongoing. There are no further details currently.
