Fatal Crash Investigation – Virginia Beach Boulevard

​VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – On May 28, 2022, at approximately 1640 hours Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) officers and members of the VBPD Special Operations Bureau’s Traffic Safety Unit responded to the report of a crash involving a single vehicle and a pedestrian in the 3300 Block of Virginia Beach Boulevard.

Upon preliminary investigation, the investigators determined that a vehicle had struck a pedestrian who was crossing the roadway. The driver of the involved vehicle stayed on the scene and cooperated with investigators.

The pedestrian has been identified as Rose Mary Maier (63/F). Maier was pronounced deceased at 1646 hours.

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation by members of the VBPD Traffic Safety Unit.
