Fatal Crash Investigation – Swallow Drive

​VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – May 26, 2022, at approximately 1426 hours, officers from the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) and members of the VBPD Special Operations Bureau’s Traffic Safety Unit responded to the report of a single-vehicle crash in the 1100 Block of Swallow Drive.

Upon preliminary investigation, the investigators determined that the vehicle exited the roadway and struck a tree. At this time, the cause of the crash is unknown. The driver of the vehicle, and sole occupant, Kyle Mapstone (M/27) was pronounced deceased at 1447 hours. Next of kin have been notified.

This case remains under active investigation by members of the VBPD Traffic Safety Unit.
