Early Voting Begins Nov. 29 for Virginia Beach City Council District 1 Special Election

In-person early voting will begin at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 29, for the City Council District 1 Special Election to fill the seat vacated by Sheriff Rocky Holcomb. Early voting will only take place at the Voter Registration and Elections Office located at Building 14 of the Virginia Beach Municipal Center, 2449 Princess Anne Road.

Early voting will be available Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5p.m., and between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 30, and Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024.

The Voter Registrar’s Office will be closed and no early voting available on Dec. 22 and 25 when City offices are closed for the Christmas holiday. Additionally, there will be no early voting on Monday, Jan. 1, when City offices are closed for the New Year holiday.

Important Deadlines

  • The deadline to request a ballot to be mailed to you is 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 29.
  • The last day to early vote in-person is 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024.
