Drop-Off Sites for Fats, Oil, and Grease Available to Residents the Week after Thanksgiving
Virginia Beach Public Utilities will provide drop-off sites for residential quantities of fats, oil, and grease the week after Thanksgiving. The staffed drop-off sites are located at select Public Utilities pump stations and will be open daily between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. from Monday, Nov. 28, through Friday, Dec. 2.
Residents can drop off their fats, oil, and grease at one of the following locations:
- 1062 Ferry Plantation Road
- 3793 Lampl Ave.
- 1308 Park Center Drive
This program will provide residents with an easy way to ensure their fats, oil, and grease are properly disposed of after deep-frying a turkey or other holiday cooking. Improper disposal methods, such as pouring fats, oil, and grease down the drain or in your yard, harm your private drains, our infrastructure, and the environment.
Motor oil and drop-offs from commercial businesses will not be accepted.
The Virginia Beach Resource Recovery Center, located at 1989 Jake Sears Road, is available year-round for dropping off residential quantities of fats, oil, and grease. Normal hours of operation for the Resource Recovery Center are 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Tuesday-Saturday. The Resource Recovery Center will be closed on Thanksgiving, Nov. 24, and the day after Thanksgiving, Nov. 25.
