Commonwealth v. Tramon Earl Holley; Brutal Domestic Attack Draws 10-Year Sentence

​Virginia Beach, Va. – Colin D. Stolle, Commonwealth's Attorney for the city of Virginia Beach, announced that Tramon Earl Holley, age 45, was sentenced yesterday for charges of Malicious Wounding, Abduction, and Assault and Battery of a Family Member. Circuit Court Judge Stephen C. Mahan sentenced Holley to 26 years in prison with sixteen (16) years suspended, leaving ten (10) years to serve.

Holley pled guilty on September 14, 2021. Had this matter gone to trial, the Commonwealth's evidence would have proven that on December 28, 2019, at around 10:40 p.m., a woman entered Sentara Independence Hospital and collapsed in the doorway. She was bloody and visibly injured, and was able to tell hospital staff that Tramon Holley, a man known to her, had struck her multiple times with a baseball bat.

Police began investigating and determined that the woman entered her home that night around 9 p.m. and heard a noise upstairs. She saw Holley coming down the stairs, very angry and yelling at her because she had ignored him most of the day. He punched her in the face and kicked her repeatedly. As he stopped to drink liquor, she attempted to flee, but he grabbed a baseball bat and hit her in her head multiple times and then all over her body. He told her he would kill her and then himself or force the police to kill him. The woman lost consciousness for a period of time. She believed she was going to die and begged him to call an ambulance or take her to the hospital. He told her, "I'm going to let you live, this time," before leaving the residence with her cell phone.

The victim used the bloodied bat to pull herself up and walk to her car. She did not understand how she was able to make it to the hospital. She suffered a concussion, contusion to her left shoulder, and received 28 staples for the laceration on her head. The woman had a camera in her home, but Holley unplugged it prior to the assault.

About a week prior, Holley had shown up to her residence because she ignored his calls. He grabbed her by her collar, took her phone, and prevented her from leaving. As she tried to escape, he hit her and she fell into the banister, resulting in a bruise to her back and a popped blood vessel in her left eye.

Holley's prior record includes convictions for Breaking and Entering with a Deadly Weapon, Use of a Firearm, Obstruction of Justice, Threatening Language over Airways, Dangerous Drugs-Possession of Paraphernalia, Assault (2 counts), Resisting Arrest, Trespass, Petit Larceny, DUI,
