Commonwealth v. Joshua Michael Pascale; Man Sentenced to 12 Years for Ongoing Sexual Abuse of Child
Colin D. Stolle, Commonwealth's Attorney for the city of Virginia Beach, announced today that Joshua Michael Pascale, age 38, was sentenced on charges of Object Sexual Penetration- Victim Under Age 13, Aggravated Sexual Battery – Victim Under Age 13, and Custodial Indecent Liberties. A jury found him guilty of these charges after a multi-day trial in April 2023. Circuit Court Judge Tanya Bullock, who presided over the trial, sentenced Pascale to 45 years with 33 years suspended leaving twelve (12) years to serve.
The Commonwealth's evidence proved that from July 2020 to March 2021, Pascale sexually abused a young child known to him on multiple occasions. Upon his return from deployment, Pascale began devoting a lot of time to the child. This behavior included trips to adult sex stores, calling the child his "little woman," and buying the child inappropriate underwear and a sex toy. The child disclosed the abuse to a family member who immediately contacted the police. In an interview with detectives, Pascale said the child was not lying, that he "did not remember", and that if she said he did it, then he did it.
Assistant Commonwealth's Attorneys C. Andrew Rice and Amanda R. Thibault prosecuted this case. Please contact Macie Allen if additional information is desired.
