Commissioner of the Revenue and City Treasurer’s Offices Closed April 8 & 11 to Move to New City Hall Building

Online Access to Services Still Available

As construction on new City Hall nears completion, City departments housed in current Building 1 will begin moving to the new building throughout April. The Commissioner of the Revenue, City Treasurer's and City Attorney's offices will be the first to relocate. To accommodate the move, the Commissioner of the Revenue and City Treasurer's offices will be closed Friday, April 8, and Monday, April 11, to in-person services.

The closure includes DMV Select and all Treasurer's Office locations (Beach, Kempsville, Lynnhaven and Thalia offices) as staff support will be unavailable. Online services will still be accessible:

These offices will reopen at normal hours on Tuesday, April 12, in new City Hall. For questions and more information, contact the City Treasurer's Office at 757-385-4445 or Commissioner of the Revenue Office at 757-385-4251.

New City Hall

New City Hall is located between current Building 1 and Building 2. With the move, it will become Building 1 and assume the address of 2401 Courthouse Drive. Current Building 1 will be redesigned and renamed Building 3. Its address will be 2403 Courthouse Drive. Estimated completion of renovation is spring of 2024.

All public meetings including City Council meetings will remain in current Council Chamber until after the move and new chamber is finished. More information about the first City Council meeting in new City Hall and ribbon cutting ceremony will be forthcoming.

Other City departments will move as follows:

  • April 23-24: Budget & Management Services, City Auditor, Finance, Office of Volunteer Resources
  • April 30-May 1: Mayor's Office, City Manager's Office, City Clerk's Office, Communications Office
