City Seeks Resident Feedback on Programs and Services

Survey mailed to random sample of demographically diverse residents

A random selection of Virginia Beach residents has been invited to participate in a resident survey asking for their feedback on City programs, services, and priorities.

Those selected to participate should receive the survey and an instructional letter in the mail. Residents who have received an invitation to participate are asked to please take the time to complete the survey by Wednesday, Dec. 28. Resident input is invaluable, and the time invested in this survey will influence decisions made about City programs and services.

The City has contracted with ETC Institute, one of the nation's leading firms in the field of local government research, to administer the survey. The survey includes some standardized questions utilized by ETC Institute in communities across the country, to allow Virginia Beach to benchmark our community against average ratings in other communities. In addition, some of the questions were developed specifically for Virginia Beach in order to gain insights from residents on particular issues which impact our community.

Only those residents who were randomly selected to receive an invitation will be able to respond to the survey. This is to ensure we hear from a diverse range of residents and so the survey data will be statistically viable. ETC Institute will monitor the distribution of the sample to ensure it reasonably reflects the demographic composition of the City with regard to age, geographic dispersion, gender, race, and other factors.

Survey data will be compiled and analyzed by ETC Institute before the results are presented to the City in early 2023. Survey results will also be made available to the public on the City website. All individual responses to the survey will remain confidential.

Your participation is appreciated and we ask those who have been selected to please complete and return the survey by Wednesday, Dec. 28.
