Barricaded Subject

​VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – On February 14, 2022, at approximately 0250, Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) personnel responded to the 3800 block of Chimney Creek Drive for the report of a domestic situation involving an intoxicated, suicidal subject with a handgun. Upon arrival, officers contacted a female who had been inside of the residence. She advised their two-year-old child was inside, asleep.

VBPD Special Operations was notified and responded with negotiators and SWAT. After several hours, the male exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident. There were no injuries to the child when located in the residence by officers.

The male was identified as Zachary Harris, a 26-year-old, male from Virginia Beach. He was arrested for domestic assault.
