Audience Registration Open for Ignite Business Series Pitch Competition Event on March 12

First Ignite Business Series Pitch Competition event, hosted by Council Member Wooten, to be held in-person; includes vendor exhibits

Audience registration is open for the first Ignite Business Series Pitch competition taking place on Saturday, March 12, 2022, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Virginia Beach Convention Center, 1000 19th St. Following a competitive application and review process, 10 individuals will compete to present new business concepts to a panel of judges for critique and feedback while vying for a customized coaching and mentorship package, courtesy of the City of Virginia Beach Economic Development's The Hive business center. This event is free and open to the public.

The judges for this exciting competition are as follows:

  • Stacey Shiflet, Pearl Business Coordinator, Lynnhaven River NOW
  • Latrece Williams-McKnight, President, McKnight Williams & Associates
  • Dr. Angela D. Reddix, Founder, CEO and President, ARDX
  • Dr. Arthur Pantelides, Associate Professor of Management, Business and Economics, Virginia Wesleyan University
  • John Kuchta, Energy One America

"Virginia Beach is committed to the growth and development of young adult start-up businesses," said Council Member Sabrina D. Wooten. "This fun event will offer professional feedback, support for new business ideas and the fuel needed to spur dreams to fruition."
