Arrest Made in Fatal Crash- 1600 North Great Neck Road

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – On October 4, 2021, at 6:47 PM, Virginia Beach Emergency Communications (VBECCS) received reports of a multi-vehicle crash in the 1600 block John Arthur Hefti, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Investigators from the VBPD Traffic Safety Unit determined that a Ford Pickup Truck was traveling northbound in the 1600 block of N. Great Neck Road when it veered into oncoming southbound traffic, striking Hefti’s vehicle head-on. Hefti’s vehicle was then pushed into the path of a third vehicle traveling southbound. An additional vehicle was struck by debris from the crash.

UPDATE:

On January 3, 2022, the driver of the Ford Pickup Truck, Ronald W. Dozier, was arrested for one count of Involuntary Manslaughter for his involvement in the crash. He is currently being held at the Virginia Beach Correctional Center on a no-bond status.

This case remains under active investigation by members of the VBPD Traffic Safety Unit.
