Arrest Made in a Robbery/Shooting Case and Stolen Dog Returned
On June 19, 2022, at about 11:47 AM, officers from the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) were located near Cannon Drive when they heard multiple gunshots. Officers responded immediately and located a victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers provided medical aid to the victim for a non-life-threatening injury until he was transported to a local hospital.
During the investigation, it was discovered the victim was attempting to sell his dog to the suspects when an altercation occurred. The suspects fled the area with the dog after firing shots at the victim.
On June 22, 2022, Jamilla Wilson (F/22) of New Orleans, LA was identified and arrested for Aggravated Malicious Wounding, Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony (x3), and Robbery (x2). Chancelon Russell (M/20) of Keithville, LA was identified and arrested for Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony (x2) and Robbery (x2). The victim’s dog was recovered and returned to the owner.
