Another Arrest Made with the Use of ShotSpotter
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – On Dec. 2, 2022, at approximately 1:10 a.m., officers from the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) heard several gunshots near 19th Street. Within seconds, officers received a ShotSpotter Alert, directing them to the 19th Street North parking lot.
As officers arrived, they observed several shell casings in the parking lot. With the help of the cameras installed at the oceanfront, officers were able to identify a vehicle which was involved in the incident. Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop, locating a handgun inside. The male driver of the vehicle was intoxicated and admitted to firing several rounds from the handgun, into the air.
Kajeen Lucas, (M/27) of Norfolk, was arrested and charged with DUI, Reckless Handling of a Firearm, Discharging a Firearm in Public, Possession of a Concealed Weapon, and Possession of an Illegal Extended Magazine.
