Zero Waste Awareness Week Begins
On Aug. 8, 2023, the Virginia Beach City Council signed a resolution that recognizes the first full week of September as Zero Waste Awareness Week on the recommendation of the Virginia Beach Clean Community Commission (VBCCC).
Zero Waste Awareness Week will kick off on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2023, from 9:30-11:30 a.m., with the VBCCC giving away free reusable bags outside the Goodwill store located at 1949 Lynnhaven Parkway. Zero Waste Awareness Week concludes on Saturday, Sept. 9, with Lynnhaven River NOW's International Coastal Cleanup event.
The VB Clean Community Commission wants to remind citizens to minimize their household waste by reducing, reusing, recycling correctly, and re-purposing. Residents are encouraged to learn more about ways they can minimize their waste by visiting www.facebook.com/KeepVirginiaBeachBeautiful.
