VBPD Responds to Shooting on Lynnhaven Parkway - *UPDATE*

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA, October 17, 2023 – On October 7, 2023, at 9:14 P.M., officers from the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) responded to the report of a shooting at the intersection of Indian River Road and Lynnhaven Parkway.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers immediately administered lifesaving efforts to the victim who was found with a life-threatening gunshot wound to the upper body. The victim was subsequently transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

A passenger in the vehicle, Kristin Barber (F/34) of Virginia Beach, was initially arrested and charged with Reckless Handling of a Firearm, Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony, and Child Neglect. On October 14, 2023, Barber was served with additional charges of Aggravated Malicious Wounding and Shooting in a Vehicle.

The victim remains in critical condition but is stable.
