VBPD Officer Facing Multiple Charges from On-Duty Incident
The Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) has secured criminal charges of Felony Object Sexual Penetration, Felony Abduction, and Felony Destruction of Evidence for Sean A. Fearon, a sworn police officer with the VBPD.
The VBPD received a complaint of criminal conduct involving Fearon resulting from his interaction with the victim on June 14, 2024. At that time, Fearon was on duty acting in his official capacity as a sworn police officer. The VBPD Detective Bureau commenced an immediate investigation, ultimately presenting their findings to the Chesapeake Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney (OCA). The OCA convened a Grand Jury which today indicted Fearon for the above charges.
Fearon has been employed with the VBPD since 2022. His police powers have been suspended and he is currently on administrative leave.
“The Virginia Beach Police Department is equally as appalled as our community that one of our own faces allegations of criminal conduct arising from an on-duty interaction with a member of our public,” said Police Chief Paul Neudigate. “Such conduct is contrary to the values and standards we uphold as a department and a profession, and if true, there must be accountability. I just ask for the community’s support, as the actions of one individual is not reflective of the 800 sworn officers who protect and serve the City of Virginia Beach with honor and distinction every day.”
Due to the sensitive nature of the allegations, details of this case will remain protected in accordance with established processes. VBPD will have no further comments to provide on this case while it goes through the judicial process.
(Note: The charges mentioned in this press release are accusations, and the arrested individual is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.)
