Two Sentenced for 2021 Six-Week Armed Robbery Spree across Hampton Roads

On September 27, 2023, Brandon Chavis (M/36) and Melissa Beasley (F/43) of Norfolk, were sentenced by a federal judge for their role in a six-week armed robbery spree in 2021.

Between October 1, 2021, and November 15, 2021, Chavis and Beasley robbed multiple establishments, in different cities in the Hampton Roads area. Two robberies took place in Virginia Beach, one at a Subway on October 25, 2021, and the other at a 7-Eleven on October 27, 2021. The two were apprehended in Norfolk on November 15, 2021.

Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) Federal Task Force Officer, Detective K. Flanagan presented the two VBPD cases along with 18 other cases that occurred across Hampton Roads to the US Attorney’s office, which led to the federal indictment of Chavis and Beasley. Chavis was sentenced to 35 years and one day, while Beasley received 28 years and one day.

We would like to express our gratitude for the hard work of the men and women across the different local and federal agencies in the Hampton Roads area who worked tirelessly to put this case together, present it to the courts, and obtain a conviction for these two suspects.
