Two Arrested for Robbery and Shooting Offense
At approximately 12:45 A.M. on October 19, 2023, the Virginia Beach Emergency Communications and Citizen Services (ECCS) received a call for a shooting in the 1300 block of Gaineford Court.
Officers from the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) responded and located a victim, (M/36), who was ultimately transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Preliminary investigation at the scene indicated the shooting originated out of a robbery; detectives were able to obtain both suspect and vehicle descriptions.
VBPD Canine Squad officers were able to locate the vehicle and conduct a felony traffic stop taking two suspects into custody. Jalen Patterson (M/30) and Wendell Patterson (M/33) both of Virginia Beach, were each charged with the following offenses: Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, Aggravated Malicious Wounding, Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony (2 counts), and Shooting in the Commission of a Felony (2 counts).
Additionally, Wendell was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
