Public Address System Testing to Take Place at Oceanfront Jan. 19

​The Virginia Beach Office of Emergency Management and Police Department will be testing the public address/notification system at the Oceanfront along the boardwalk on Wednesday, Jan. 19, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

This is a routine test to evaluate the system's capability as part of an update. Anyone along the boardwalk on Jan. 19 may hear voices announcing, "Test. Test. Test. Virginia Beach public address system test at XX street."

The Oceanfront public address/notification system allows the City to broadcast emergency messages and instructions to the public along the oceanfront boardwalk and beaches in the event there is a significant emergency during a special event.
