Fatal Pedestrian Crash – 1400 block of Laskin Road

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – On January 8, 2023, at approximately 6:35 P.M., officers from the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) responded to the report of a pedestrian struck in the 1400 block of Laskin Road.

The preliminary investigation determined a pedestrian was walking in the roadway on Laskin Road when they were struck by a vehicle; this individual was transported to a local hospital. The driver remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation; there are no charges pending against the driver at this time.

On January 9, 2023, investigators received information from the hospital that the pedestrian, Keoni Kapoio, (M/34), of Virginia Beach, passed away as a result of his injuries. His family has been notified.
