Fatal Crash Investigation on First Colonial Road

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA, May 22, 2023 – On May 21, 2023, at around 6:30 PM, Virginia Beach Emergency Communications received a call for a crash in front of Virginia Beach General Hospital (VBGH) on First Colonial Road.

The crash involved a small motorcycle traveling northbound on First Colonial and an SUV which had been exiting a parking lot. The motorcycle operator, Francis (Frank) Saunders (M/69) of Virginia Beach, sustained significant injuries and was pronounced deceased at a local hospital.
