Deadline to Provide Input on Rudee Loop Redevelopment Extended

Due to the overwhelming response and sustained daily engagements, the Reimagining Rudee Loop survey has been extended through midnight, Sunday, Jan. 29, 2023.

Rudee Loop area of the city

As the City works to establish a plan for Rudee Loop, leaders are seeking input from the public. The City has partnered with Work Program Architects (WPA) to conduct community engagement and the firm has planned multiple opportunities for residents and stakeholders to share their vision of what Rudee Loop could be. Upon completion of the community outreach, the results will be provided to City Council.

Complete the Survey

Interested residents and stakeholders may provide feedback via the SpeakUpVB Survey – Reimagining Rudee Loop, which will now be available through midnight, Sunday, Jan. 29.

To request a hard copy of the survey, contact Nancy Bloom at (757) 385-6279 or nbloom@vbgov.com.

Attend One of Two Open House Events

Two open house public events have been scheduled – one at Rudee Loop (Friday, Jan. 27, from 6:30 a.m. until early afternoon; rain date is same location and time on Feb. 3) and one at the Kempsville Recreation Center (Tuesday, Jan. 31, from 6:30-8 p.m.).

About Rudee Loop

Rudee Loop, situated at the south end of the Resort Area adjacent to Rudee Inlet, is one of the most desirable plots of undeveloped land on the eastern seaboard. During the 2019 Resort Area Strategic Action Plan update, residents identified Rudee Loop as a top priority for green space. In May 2022, the City and Virginia Beach Development Authority issued a Request for Information and Ideas on how the parcels owned by the City and the VBDA (6.2 acres) might be developed. Four proposals were received and briefed to City Council. Council requested that the public have an opportunity to provide their input and comment on the conceptual proposals.
