Additional Sources for Emergency Information
VBAlert is the City’s emergency alert and warning system through which city officials send notifications when there is a public safety incident. Alerts are automatically sent to landline telephones in the affected area of the city.Â
To receive text alert notifications on your mobile device(s) or via email, simply register online as a new user.
VBTV provides emergency information, including the City’s operational status and facilities closure notices, on the following channels:
- Cox Channels 46, 47 and 48
- Verizon Channels 45, 46 and 47
The City also sends updates to the news desks of local public television stations: WTKR 3, WAVY 10, and WVEC 13
NOAA Weather Radio provides continuous broadcasts of the latest weather information from your local National Weather Service Office 24/7.
Residents do not need to be registered with VBAlert in order to receive Reverse 911 phone calls. Reverse 911 is utilized to notify residents of an extreme emergency. Notifications from Reverse 911 are sent to landline phones only.
