Virginia Beach State of the City and Events Hosted by Council Members Happening in March
Mayor Dyer will give his eighth State of the City address; Councilmembers Cummings, Henley and Ross-Hammond will host meetings for their districts.
The 2026 Virginia Beach State of the City will be held March 5. Councilmembers Stacy Cummings, Barbara Henley and Dr. Amelia Ross-Hammond invite the public to attend their upcoming district community events.
Mayor Robert M. “Bobby” Dyer, along with City Manager Patrick Duhaney, will deliver the 2026 State of the City address on Thursday, March 5, at the Virginia Beach Convention Center. The speech will highlight major City initiatives, recognize several organizations and provide a look forward for the city. This year's presentation will be livestreamed on the City's website and Facebook page at approximately 12:30 p.m. The event is the first in a series of five sponsored by the Hampton Roads Chamber.
On Monday, March 9, Councilmember Dr. Ross-Hammond will hold a District 4 community meeting to update residents on topics including the City budget, Town Center survey, VB Trail, Independence Boulevard and Edwin Drive intersection, Burton Station Apartments and the Attainable Workforce Housing Performance Grant Program. The meeting is 6-8 p.m. at Williams Farm Recreation Center.
Councilmember Cummings is hosting a District 8 community meeting on Thursday, March 19. Topics of discussion include e-bikes, the City budget and construction on Shore Drive. Residents also will hear from the Virginia Beach Police Department about public safety within the district. The meeting will be 6-8 p.m. in the auditorium of Cox High School.
Councilmember Henley will host her monthly District 2 community meeting from 5:15-7 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, in Building 19 at the Municipal Center to update residents on current City projects and issues. Residents will have an opportunity to meet and build relationships with other members of the district, engage and participate in the conversation and have their questions addressed.
